ONE WORD FILM

The objective of this activity was to create a short film, 1-2 minutes long, portraying a word of my group's choice. To start this project off I needed to decide on my group members. We were only allowed 2-3 people in a group. I was paired with Ryan, whom I've successfully worked with before, and Valeria. I knew I wasn't gonna have any problems with my classmates while filming and editing. Secondly, we needed to pick a word. This part of the project was a struggle for my group as we wanted something interesting yet still achievable to portray.  We needed assistance from our teacher Mrs. Harwell, who gave us the word courage.

This word was manageable. The first idea that was thrown out was by Ryan and was immediately liked by the whole group. The idea of our video was to have a boy be nervous around his crush who he wants to ask out, but eventually finds the courage to do so. The topic got approved by our teacher and it was time to start filming! Since Ryan and I have worked together on past projects we know each other's strengths and weaknesses. In this project, we decided that I would film and edit the video while Ryan and Valeria would act in it. Another key aspect of the project was incorporating as many camera angles as we can. We all put our minds together to decide on unique angles and transitions that fit the film. One struggle with this project was we couldn't include dialogue. The actions, angles, and music all had to represent our word. This was a very interesting project to do as we had to think of unique ways to portray a "scared boy" to a "confident" one. We utilized props like binders and books to help with the story and character development.

The project took 2 days to film and one day to edit. The struggle I encountered while editing was what background music would fit the idea of the film. I decided on two separate instrumental pieces that each heavily influence the "courage" of the video. Overall I think my team worked well together and the video was done well.
